What K-Cult is
K-Cult is an English-language K-pop magazine and reference, built by a fan for fans. It pairs daily news and features with a growing, interlinked database of the artists, groups, agencies, tours and concerts that make up the K-pop world — so you can go from a headline to the full context in a click.
Who writes K-Cult
K-Cult is written under the pen name Kio Lysander-West. To be upfront: we are not industry insiders or credentialed music journalists. K-Cult is the work of a devoted fan who fell for K-pop through BLACKPINK, spent a year going deep, and came out the other side hooked on aespa, ITZY, BABYMONSTER and, on the boys’ side, Stray Kids.
We use a pen name because we would rather let the writing and the passion speak than put a personal identity front and center. What we bring is not authority — it is genuine, first-hand enthusiasm, and the time to research each story properly.
How we work
Articles and artist profiles are researched from multiple sources before they are published — we do not run a story on a single source. Where possible we cross-check facts across reputable outlets, official statements and the artists’ own channels, and we show our sources on the page.
- AI-assisted, human-curated. We use AI to help research and draft; for articles and profiles a person then chooses the subject, reads the draft against its sources, decides to keep it or not, edits it if necessary, and decides whether it is published. Our concert, tour, venue and city records are imported in batches without a per-record review.
- Sourced. Facts in our articles are backed by at least two sources, listed on the page with the date they were checked.
- Made by hand where it counts. Many of our news article cover images are crafted specifically for the story — we care about the visuals as much as the words. Database records (concerts, venues, cities) are listings and generally carry no image.
- Corrected openly. Get something wrong? Tell us and we fix it. A reference page carries a “last verified” date only where it also shows the sources behind it.
Why K-Cult exists
Because K-pop is a genuine source of joy and inspiration, and we want to share it. We love the artistry and the aesthetics — the visuals worth putting on a wall, and the choreography worth watching on repeat (a dedicated dance section is on the way). The goal is simple and ambitious: to make K-Cult a go-to English-language reference for K-pop — the place you trust to explain not just what happened, but why it matters.
Editorial standards
- Minimum two sources per story, shown on the page. (Sourcing policy — including what our early archive and our database listings do not meet.)
- AI assistance is disclosed; humans curate, edit and verify.
- Facts carry a verification date; official sources are distinguished from press and social media.
- No fabricated quotes; if something cannot be verified, we leave it out.
- Corrections are welcome and made promptly.
