BABYMONSTER’s “MOON” era is no longer hiding in the shadows. YG Entertainment has revealed individual visuals for all six members taking part in the rollout, with Ruka and Chiquita closing the sequence after Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, and Rora.
The campaign replaces the bright, summery energy of “I LIKE IT” with smoky makeup, restrained expressions, dark styling, and a dreamlike atmosphere. So far, YG has described the video’s visual direction rather than revealing a plot, leaving any larger storyline or connection between the images unconfirmed.
BABYMONSTER “MOON” US Release Time
The “MOON” music video premieres Monday, Aug. 3 at midnight KST. Because of the time difference, U.S. fans can watch it one day earlier, on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. ET and 8 a.m. PT.
“MOON” appears as the opening track on BABYMONSTER’s third mini album, CHOOM, released May 4. The video will be the fourth MV in YG’s extended campaign around the project, following the title track “CHOOM,” the standalone digital single “SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA,” and album track “I LIKE IT.”
Ruka and Chiquita Complete the Six-Member Visual Rollout
Pharita and Asa opened the “MOON” visual series on July 28. Pharita’s pale brows and smoky makeup created a sharp contrast, while Asa paired statement nails and bold accessories with a relaxed pose against a sofa.
Ahyeon and Rora followed on July 29. Ahyeon appeared with dark smoky makeup and naturally waved hair, while Rora used a restrained expression and direct gaze to push the cinematic mood further.
The final pair arrived July 30. Ruka was styled with braided blonde hair and smoky makeup, while Chiquita wore silver-toned eye makeup with a denim top. Together, the six portraits complete a concept built less around bright color and more around controlled intensity.
Why “MOON” Feels So Different From “I LIKE IT”
The first announcement poster established the visual language before the member photos arrived: a giant full moon illuminates a forest covered in darkness, with the song title cutting through the image in red typography.
Musically, YG describes “MOON” as Southern trap-style R&B hip-hop driven by 808 bass and a minimalist arrangement. Dreamy synth textures and surreal lyrics give the track a darker, stranger edge than the refreshing dance sound of “I LIKE IT.”
BABYMONSTER first unveiled the song’s performance during the Seoul opening concerts of the group’s 2026-27 CHOOM world tour. The music video is now positioned to show how that stage-ready track expands into a full visual world, but whether the moonlit imagery hides an actual narrative remains the rollout’s biggest unanswered question.
