The Paris stop was the European finale of BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’, packing around 92,000 fans into the venue on Friday alone. With Macron later posting a “Bienvenue a Paris” video from the show, the night instantly joined a growing list of moments where political leaders publicly align themselves with BTS and Korean pop culture.
Paris Finale Puts BTS and Macron in the Same Stadium
During the first of two Paris dates, about 92,000 spectators filled Stade de France, combining 88,000 seated fans with the floor section as members moved around the massive stage to greet every corner of the stadium. When cameras cut to Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron on the giant screens, smiling and waving official BTS light sticks, the crowd erupted in cheers.
French coverage noted that the show landed as Korea and France celebrate 140 years of diplomatic relations, turning the Macrons’ night out into a visible symbol of cultural ties. Brigitte Macron has spoken about liking K-pop, and during an April state visit to Seoul she was gifted signed CDs from BTS, Stray Kids and G-Dragon.

In March, BTS had already turned central Seoul into a stage with BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG at Gwanghwamun Square. From Paris to New Jersey: BTS World Cup Halftime Show Next
Right after wrapping the Paris shows, the seven members headed straight to New Jersey to perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium. The Spain versus Argentina match will feature the first full-scale World Cup final halftime concert, with BTS sharing the stage with Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and Burna Boy in a production curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Fifa has called the BTS World Cup halftime show a “landmark celebration at the intersection of sport, music and global impact,” with the artists performing without pay as the event raises money for an education fund. Stretching halftime to about 25 minutes instead of 15 has already raised questions about player rhythm, but it also turns the break into a giant stage for BTS to reach viewers who might be seeing them properly for the first time.
