This new Everland baby panda is already showing why Korean zoo pandas are becoming K-pop fans’ comfort idols

South Korea just welcomed a new kind of baby idol: the Everland new baby panda was born at Panda World in Yongin as a healthy female cub. She is the latest arrival to parents Ai Bao and Le Bao, and curiosity about the zoo’s newest star is already spreading.

For K culture fans who treat soft animal clips like a healing playlist, this birth lands differently than a usual zoo update. It is a rare natural giant panda birth in Korea, and it extends a panda storyline that people follow almost like an ongoing idol era.

Inside Everland’s New Baby Panda Arrival

Everland says 12 year old mother Ai Bao delivered the cub on June 3 at 10:53 a.m. at Panda World in Yongin. The baby girl weighed 171 grams after two hours of labor, and both mother and cub are under round the clock care.

It is only the third successful natural giant panda birth in Korea. With females fertile just one to three days a year and real and false pregnancies looking almost the same, the team tracked Ai Bao and Le Bao’s hormones closely and timed their natural mating in February.

From mid May, staff ran a delivery room with 24 hour monitoring and consulted the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan. Keeper Kang Cheol won said he was “happy and grateful” to welcome another cub and vowed to raise her so this panda family keeps bringing comfort and joy.

Meet Korea’s Celebrity Panda Family

The unnamed cub joins a celebrated panda lineup. Parents Ai Bao and 13 year old Le Bao already share daughter Fu Bao, born in 2020 as the first panda bred in Korea, along with twin sisters Rui Bao and Hui Bao, born in 2023, turning Panda World into Korea’s celebrity panda family.

Fans can trace the family like eras in a group timeline:

  • 2020: Fu Bao becomes the first panda bred in Korea
  • 2023: Twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao are born
  • June 3: The youngest sister arrives at Panda World

With keeper Kang Cheol won affectionately known as the pandas grandfather, the family functions like comfort idols that people check on the way they follow their bias.

Naming, Debut, and How to Follow the New Cub

For now, the Everland new baby panda stays in a private enclosure with Ai Bao, away from crowds. Her name will follow her sisters’ tradition and be chosen through a public contest when she is about 100 days old. Fu Bao and the twins only met visitors after five months, and Everland says the new cub’s debut will also depend on her immunity and walking.

Until that debut stage, Everland will share her growth through official YouTube clips and social media, giving international fans a stream of healing content. The timing also lines up with Panda World’s tenth anniversary of conservation research with China, so this comforting panda storyline doubles as a visible success for a decade long protection project.
