KATSEYE

KATSEYE is a six-member global girl group based in Los Angeles, formed by HYBE and Geffen Records (HYBE UMG joint venture) through the 2023 competition The Debut: Dream Academy. Combining K-pop training methodology with English-language global pop, the group debuted on June 28, 2024, with the single "Debut" and rose to international stardom in 2025 with the EP Beautiful Chaos and the singles "Gnarly" and "Gabriela", earning Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 ceremony.

Overview

KATSEYE is a global girl group formed in Los Angeles by HYBE and Geffen Records (a HYBE UMG joint venture) through the 2023 survival competition The Debut: Dream Academy, which drew over 120,000 applicants worldwide. The six members — Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Manon, Megan and Yoonchae — were trained under the K-pop idol system while making English-language pop for a global audience.

Debuting on June 28, 2024, with the single “Debut”, the group broke through in 2025 with the EP Beautiful Chaos and the hits “Gnarly” and “Gabriela”, earning a 2025 MTV VMA, two nominations at the 2026 Grammy Awards including Best New Artist, and a three-for-three sweep at the 2026 American Music Awards.

Facts

KATSEYE is a deliberately multinational group: members come from the Philippines/US, the US (Indian Tamil, Cuban-Venezuelan and Chinese Singaporean heritage), Switzerland (Ghanaian descent) and South Korea. The group is based in Los Angeles and trained under the K-pop idol system.
The Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, directed by Nadia Hallgren and premiered August 21, 2024, documented the two-year Dream Academy selection and training process.
The fandom name EYEKONS — a portmanteau of "eye" (from KATSEYE) and "icon" — was announced on April 11, 2024, before the group's debut.
In 2025 KATSEYE ranked No. 2 on Google's U.S. "Trending Musicians" list and was named TikTok's Global Artist of the Year, with more than 30 billion views on the platform.
