Park Eun bin is back on the small screen with ghosts, romance and a major remake. Her new tvN series Spooky in Love, a K-drama reimagining of the 2011 film Spellbound, is heading to Netflix this July.
Blending rom-com, occult horror and investigations, the show turns a cult movie into a 12-episode “transmedia” story. Before it drops, here is what US K-drama and K-pop fans should know about the plot, cast and how to watch.
Spooky in Love Netflix Release Date and How to Watch
If you are searching for the Spooky in Love Netflix release date, mark July 18, 2026. The series premieres that Saturday at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN as a weekend drama and streams globally on Netflix the same day, with new episodes every Saturday and Sunday.
The season runs for 12 episodes, with each chapter around 70 minutes. Netflix is following the Korean broadcast, so international viewers will be watching week to week rather than getting a full-season binge drop.
Quick basics for your watchlist:
- Premiere: Saturday, July 18, 2026
- Schedule: tvN weekend slot, airing twice a week
- Format: 12 episodes, about 70 minutes each
- Where to watch: tvN in Korea, Netflix worldwide, TVING in Korea
Plot, Ghost Rules, and Spellbound Connections
Spooky in Love follows Cheon Yeo ri, played by Park Eun bin, a chaebol heiress and luxury hotel CEO who can see ghosts. She is haunted by spirits who died unjustly and keeps herself isolated until she collides with prosecutor Ma Gang uk, played by Yang Se jong, who is fearless in court but terrified of the supernatural.
The key twist is Yeo ri’s “ghost sharing” touch. Park explained that “one of the key supernatural elements involves Yeo ri’s hands. Anyone she touches can also see ghosts. That lets us explore the premise in a much richer way and gives viewers something entirely new.” Their accidental team up turns into an occult cold-case partnership and, inevitably, romance.
Park called the project an “exciting new challenge,” saying, “while the original film runs for about two hours, a 12-episode series gives us at least six times more room to expand the story and introduce new settings and elements.” The drama keeps the core idea of a woman who sees ghosts and a man who chooses to stay with her, but it rebuilds everything around it, from jobs to villains.
Genre wise, Park said she realized how much she enjoys stories that combine multiple genres, noting that romance is layered with occult lore, investigative teamwork and action. Director Lee Min su added that he wanted to lean into “what makes Korean dramas distinctive,” especially character driven comedy that delivers “fun, dopamine-inducing moments,” so expect jumpy scenes without full-on nightmare fuel.
Cast Lineup and Why K Pop Fans Care
Park Eun bin leads as Yeo ri after a huge run that includes The WONDERfools, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Castaway Diva and The King’s Affection. Spooky in Love lets her shift from legal and musical stories into a spooky rom-com where she can flex both emotional and comedic timing.
Yang Se jong, known from Dr. Romantic, Still 17, Doona and historical drama My Country, plays Ma Gang uk, the prosecutor who has to face literal ghosts for the woman he falls for. Their opposites-attract chemistry is a big part of the marketing and early teasers.
For K-pop fans, the biggest crossover draw is Ong Seong wu. The former Wanna One member plays Kang Min hwan, an ambitious rival hotel executive and newly created antagonist figure that did not exist in the film version. After roles in projects like Strong Girl Nam soon, 20th Century Girl and Seoul Vibe, this darker part could be his most intense drama character yet.
The ensemble also features Jo Hye joo, Kim Do wan, Ye Soo jung and Cha Mi kyung in key hotel and family roles, rounding out the investigation squad and ghostly world viewers will start exploring once the first episodes hit tvN and Netflix in July.
