Disney Plus is turning A Shop for Killers, its most watched Korean original, into a 2026 binge dilemma with Season 2

Disney Plus is turning its breakout Korean killer shop drama into a full franchise. A Shop for Killers Season 2 lands July 22, 2026 on both Disney+ and Hulu, with a two episode premiere that shows how serious the streamer is about K drama in 2026.

Season 1 ran in early 2024 and became Disney Plus most watched Korean original worldwide, as well as its top drama in the Asia Pacific region. Now MBC is rerunning that first season in a prime Friday Saturday slot, warming audiences up for a bigger, riskier return.

‘A Shop for Killers’ Season 2 Release Date and How to Watch

For US viewers, A Shop for Killers Season 2 drops July 22 with its first two episodes streaming at the same time on Disney Plus and Hulu. The season runs eight episodes, released in weekly two episode pairs every Wednesday.

On Hulu, fans can choose the original Korean audio with English subtitles or a separate English dub, while Disney Plus offers the subtitled version. Season 1 is already on both, and airing on MBC in Korea, so newcomers can fully catch up before the July 22 launch.

Why Disney Plus Is Betting Big on This Korean Thriller

When A Shop for Killers streamed from January 17 to February 7, 2024, it shot to the top of Disney Plus rankings in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong and held Top 10 spots across Asia. It finished 2024 as Disney Plus most watched Korean original worldwide and its most viewed drama in Asia Pacific, while The New York Times and Teen Vogue both named it one of the years standout international K dramas.

At Disney Asia Pacific showcase events, content chief Carol Choi said the company had “doubled down” on Korean originals after seeing how shows like Moving and A Shop for Killers dominated its local rankings. Positioning A Shop for Killers Season 2 as a tentpole beside titles like Moving Season 2 and new drama Made in Korea turns it into the core of a longer running thriller franchise.

What 2026 Binge Watchers Can Expect From Season 2

Based on the novel The Murderer’s Shopping Mall, the drama follows college student Jeong Ji An, Kim Hye jun, who inherits her uncles online store and discovers it fronts Murthehelp, a weapons marketplace tied to mercenary group Babylon. Season 2 finds Ji An as Murthehelp official boss, reunited with uncle Jeong Jin Man, Lee Dong wook, and finally ready to strike back.

The new season leans into Murthehelp versus Babylon as a full scale war, with returning villain Bale, Jo Han sun, refined knife focused fights, and new international players Hyunri, Masaki Okada and Jung Yun Ha. It keeps a TV MA level tone, closer to A Killer Paradox or The Worst of Evil than a soft romance drama.

For 2026 binge watchers used to Netflix style all at once drops, Disney Plus two episode weekly cadence creates a choice. Ride the Wednesday releases with theories and live Korean buzz, or wait until all eight episodes are out and marathon Seasons 1 and 2 as one high impact K thriller.
