Flex x Cop 2 is officially on the schedule, with SBS confirming the sequel will premiere August 7 at 9:50 PM KST in its prime Friday Saturday drama slot. After season 1 hit an 11 percent nationwide high, the new season faces serious expectations.
The twist this time is a brand new female lead: Jung Eun Chae joins Ahn Bo Hyun as tough team leader Joo Hye Ra, replacing Park Ji Hyun’s detective Lee Kang Hyun. Two years after its 2024 run, Flex x Cop season 2 arrives with higher stakes.
SBS loads its Friday Saturday slot with Flex x Cop season 2
Flex x Cop 2 inherits the time slot of Agent Kim Reactivated, which became SBS biggest 2026 hit with 15.7 percent nationwide ratings by episode 2, 15.9 percent in Seoul, and an 18.1 percent peak, the first Korean drama since The Penthouse 3 to clear 15 percent that early.
Season 1 introduced billionaire heir Jin I Soo, a carefree third generation chaebol forced into police work, who chose to “fight money with money and power with power.” That flashy concept, mixing crime cases with super rich toys, helped the drama reach an impressive 11 percent nationwide rating.
Now, with the sequel following such a record breaking slot, the question is not only whether Flex x Cop 2 can repeat its own success, but whether it can keep SBS Friday Saturday streak in double digit territory.
Jung Eun Chae’s Joo Hye Ra shakes up Jin I Soo’s world
Park Ji Hyun will not return for season 2, with her agency citing schedule conflicts as she films tvN office romance See You at Work Tomorrow! Instead, Jung Eun Chae steps in as Joo Hye Ra, a respected detective leading Violent Crimes Unit 1 and Jin I Soo’s former police academy instructor.
The teaser shows the team preparing a red carpet welcome for their new superior, only for Joo Hye Ra to stride in, flip Jin I Soo with a judo move, and answer his “This is a nightmare” with, “No, it is reality.” Fresh off series like The King: Eternal Monarch and Pachinko, Jung Eun Chae doubles down on strict, no nonsense authority.
Teaser flexes bigger action, a new rival, and star cameos
Visually, the July 2 teaser cranks the flex higher. Jin I Soo, again played by Ahn Bo Hyun, conducts an overseas arrest on a private jet with his team, sips champagne in a tuxedo at a party, and “borrows” a helicopter for a high speed chase in imported sports cars. Bombs and fires tear through stores, vehicles, and luxury events as an unseen foe taunts, “Detective Jin, let the game begin,” and Joo Hye Ra warns that someone is trying to kill him.
On top of the core squad, Flex x Cop 2 also features Yoo Seung Ho in a special appearance as chaebol sculptor Yoo Sung Won, marking his first television role in about three years. Early comments calling the cast “incredible” and saying, “I can’t wait to see Ahn Bo Hyun and Jung Eun Chae together,” show that fans are already watching to see if this chemistry can carry the drama past its 11 percent peak.
