BTS Chile 2026 stadium shows hit Estadio Nacional rejection, why 150,000 ARMY are watching every update

Three sold out BTS stadium shows in Santiago are suddenly stuck in limbo after Chile’s National Sports Institute refused to authorize Estadio Nacional. The October BTS Chile concerts at the National Stadium are part of the group’s ARIRANG World Tour, with around 150,000 ARMY already holding tickets.

The permit denial, made public in early July, cited damage risks to the stadium’s hybrid grass and a packed sports calendar. After loud ARMY protests, the government has agreed to review a conditional approval, but the final venue and staging for the Santiago dates are still unresolved.

Inside the BTS Chile concerts National Stadium rejection

Local promoter DG Medios scheduled three BTS nights at Estadio Nacional on October 14, 16 and 17, 2026, and tickets sold out quickly in April. The plan used BTS’s 360 degree stage in the middle of the pitch for more than 48,000 fans per show.

On July 2, the National Sports Institute, or IND, said it would not authorize use of the central field after a technical review. Officials warned that the heavy circular stage would sit directly on the hybrid turf and irrigation system for days, leaving too little recovery time before national team soccer and other events. Sports Minister Natalia Duco said the institute “never confirmed the dates with the official decrees” normally required and criticized DG Medios for selling tickets early.

ARMY protests and Chile’s conditional rethink

The rejection outraged ARMY across Chile, who had waited since BTS’s 2017 Wings tour for a return. On July 5, fans in at least 11 cities marched in purple, carrying balloons and banners reading “BTS to the National Stadium” and “Today We Fight” while singing BTS songs.

In Santiago, around 5,000 people rallied and moved toward La Moneda presidential palace, turning a dispute over a football pitch into a national talking point. Some lawmakers warned that blocking three BTS dates could hurt tourism, concert revenues and Chile’s image with global pop stars.

After the protests and political criticism, the government softened its stance. On July 6, officials said they would review a conditional approval for Estadio Nacional if DG Medios submits stronger pitch protection plans and extra technical documents showing how BTS’s 360 degree stage and production would avoid damaging the turf and underground systems.

What BTS Chile ticket holders should watch next

For now, the BTS Chile concerts are neither officially canceled nor fully reapproved at Estadio Nacional. DG Medios has not said whether the shows will be relocated, reformatted or rescheduled, and HYBE has told Korean media it is monitoring the situation and will respond when there is more clarity.

Possible outcomes include full stadium shows with upgraded turf protection, a modified stage layout inside the National Stadium complex, or a move to another city, but none of these scenarios has been confirmed and there is no detailed public FAQ yet on refunds or seat changes. Until Chilean authorities and organizers announce a final decision, the safest move for fans is to track official statements from HYBE, Big Hit Music, DG Medios and IND before changing travel plans.
