New stills from tvN’s upcoming rom com My Bias, My Boss (original title Choeaeui Sawon) show ITZY’s Yuna fully transformed into Yoon Choi, a glamorous top actress inside the drama’s universe. For a singer known mainly as the youngest member of ITZY, it is the clearest signal yet that she is serious about acting.
Set to premiere in August, the office romance follows a fangirl who ends up working for her idol, but much of the buzz is orbiting Yuna’s character. As a real life K-pop star now playing a rapidly rising screen goddess, she faces a tricky question: can a top idol convincingly sell the life of a top actress?
Yuna Levels Up With My Bias My Boss
The tvN Monday Tuesday series, based on webtoon My Oppa Is an Idol, is now officially titled My Bias, My Boss after earlier working under the name My Favorite Employee. It is scheduled to premiere on August 3, 2026 at 8:50 p.m. KST, with international viewers able to stream it through Viki.
The story centers on Nam Da Reum, played by Kim Hye Joon, a dedicated fan who joins fashion start up Apello just to get close to her longtime bias Lee Chan, an idol turned director portrayed by Cha Woo Min. Caught between them is Apello CEO Kang Ha Gi, played by Kang Hoon, whose cool work persona hides a much softer side when it comes to romance.
Yuna joins this main trio as Yoon Choi, positioned as a key source of emotional tension rather than a background cameo. Korean industry reports have highlighted that she took part in the first script reading alongside the rest of the lead cast, underscoring that this is a full scale acting role and not a brief guest spot.
Inside Yoon Choi, Rising Star On And Off Screen
Within the drama, Yoon Choi is described as a rising actress whose beauty and star quality pushed her quickly toward the top of the industry after debut. She and Lee Chan previously headlined a romance project together that drew in universe praise for their chemistry, turning them into a beloved on screen couple.
That chemistry becomes complicated when Lee Chan kindly helps her rehearse lines and Yoon Choi starts developing real feelings for him. Refusing to ignore those emotions, she decides to pursue him in real life, inserting herself into the already messy triangle between Lee Chan, Nam Da Reum, and Kang Ha Gi.
New stills released on July 10 show Yuna walking a red carpet as Yoon Choi in a sleek gown, then quietly focused on a script, hinting at both the character’s glamorous public persona and hardworking professional side. For fans, it is also a first look at how comfortably she wears the visual language of a seasoned movie star.
Can An Idol Convince As A Top Actress?
This is only Yuna’s second K-drama, following her acting debut earlier this year in retro office comedy Undercover Miss Hong on tvN and Netflix, where she played lively younger sister Hong Jang Mi. In interviews about that project and her solo album Ice Cream, she has shared that acting lets her explore emotions in new ways and that she wants to keep challenging herself.
The challenge is steeper this time. Instead of a youthful family role, she must embody a charismatic celebrity whose every look, line, and micro expression has to feel like someone used to owning red carpets. Viewers will be watching how naturally she delivers dialogue, separates Yoon Choi from her own idol image, and matches experienced co stars in romantic and comedic beats.
There is momentum in her favor. Another ITZY member, Ryujin, recently drew praise for an actress like presence after a surprise cameo in a hit drama finale, suggesting audiences are open to seeing the group on screen. If Yuna’s performance in My Bias, My Boss connects with both K-drama watchers and MIDZY, episodes airing on tvN and dropping on Viki soon after broadcast could mark the beginning of a very real acting future for her.
