This message from Nayeon’s mom has TWICE contract renewal talk surging, and ONCEs are watching JYP’s next move

Is Nayeon leaving JYP Entertainment? After TWICE closed their massive THIS IS FOR world tour in Seoul, a long Instagram message from Nayeon’s mother about her 20 years at “this place” sent ONCEs into full contract renewal panic.

As of mid July 2026, nothing about a Nayeon JYP split is confirmed. The official line from JYP is that “TWICE is currently in the period of discussing contract renewals,” with no statement naming Nayeon or any decision on her solo career.

What Nayeon’s Mom Actually Wrote

In the viral caption, Nayeon’s mother thanked her daughter for spending “around 20 years altogether, 11 years with TWICE plus your trainee days,” saying she had poured her entire youth and dreams into “this place” and that “all nine members of TWICE have earned” proper treatment.

She also wrote that it is “time for you to receive the treatment and recognition you truly deserve,” which many fans read as criticism of JYP’s handling of TWICE and Nayeon’s solo work. Importantly, the post never mentions JYP, contracts, or Nayeon leaving the company.

TWICE Contract Renewal: Where Things Really Stand

TWICE debuted in 2015 and all nine members renewed their exclusive JYP contracts together in July 2022, a rare full group renewal. Those extended deals are now nearing another decision point, which is why JYP confirmed that renewal discussions are underway for TWICE as a whole.

Korean outlets have reported that Tzuyu is not renewing her exclusive contract, that Jihyo may start a one person agency, and that Chaeyoung has met other companies, all for solo activities. Those same reports state that TWICE group promotions are expected to continue, and no credible source has suggested disbandment.

Here is the simple timeline that is shaping today’s rumors:

  • 2015: TWICE debut under JYP Entertainment.
  • July 2022: All nine members renew their contracts together.
  • 2025 and 2026: Release of This Is For and the THIS IS FOR World Tour, ending with Seoul encores from July 10 to 12 2026.
  • Summer 2026: JYP confirms TWICE contract talks, and member specific reports begin circulating.

Is Nayeon Leaving JYP Entertainment, And What Then?

For now, Nayeon has not said she is leaving, so every scenario is speculation. The most likely options discussed in K-pop circles are that she renews fully with JYP, or keeps TWICE activities under JYP while choosing different solo management, similar to hybrid models seen in other groups.

For ONCEs, that would mostly affect how Nayeon’s solo albums, brand deals and schedules are managed. Group comebacks, future world tours, and possible North American dates can continue as long as the nine members agree to promote as TWICE, regardless of where their personal agencies sit.

Nayeon’s bond with JYP is not purely business. In 2025 she worked with Momo and Tzuyu on the children’s picture book Our Special Parol for the Every Dream Matters campaign, saying she was “grateful that we can pray for everyone to be healthy” as they read to pediatric patients.
