BIGBANG are finally moving toward a full group return, this time as a trio. Korean reports say the legends are preparing a summer 2026 comeback, filming a new music video in late July for their first new song in four years and their first BIGBANG summer comeback without T.O.P.
For VIPs, the stakes feel huge. The last time G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P and Daesung released music together was the reflective 2022 single Still Life, a one track return that now reads like a goodbye. With T.O.P on a separate path, this comeback will define what BIGBANG looks and sounds like in 2026.
BIGBANG summer comeback without T.O.P: what is confirmed
According to a MyDaily report shared in Korean entertainment press, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung are coordinating schedules to shoot a new BIGBANG music video in the third week of July 2026. The exact song title and concept are unannounced, but the release is described as a summer comeback ahead of their tour.
The track will be BIGBANG’s first group song since Still Life and their first official release without T.O.P, who ended his YG Entertainment contract in 2022 and later confirmed he had already left the group. YG has separately announced a 20th anniversary world tour beginning with three stadium nights in Goyang on August 21 titled BIGBANG 2026 WORLD TOUR IN GOYANG.
From Still Life to solo T.O.P: how we got here
Still Life arrived in April 2022 as BIGBANG’s first release in four years and their only song as a four member lineup after Seungri’s exit. After that, T.O.P stepped away, ending his YG deal in 2022 and telling fans in a June 2023 Instagram Q and A that he had already withdrawn from BIGBANG.
In early 2026 he finally resurfaced with his first full solo album, TOP SPOT – ANOTHER DIMENSION, released through his own label TOP SPOT PICTURES. T.O.P co produced and wrote every track, calling the project “especially meaningful” and “a gift to my fans,” and the set debuted at No. 20 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. He told Billboard, “The members of BIGBANG and I make very different kinds of music now, but I’ll always support and respect their music.”
What VIPs can expect from BIGBANG’s 2026 trio era
A BIGBANG track without T.O.P’s low register rap will inevitably shift the group’s balance, but the current trio have strong, distinct colors. G-Dragon’s recent solo releases lean into edgy hip hop and production, Taeyang brings smooth R and B phrasing, and Daesung adds a powerful rock and ballad tone that often carries BIGBANG’s most emotional choruses.
For US fans, the trio’s new sound leads straight into a huge live moment. YG has described the 2026 run as BIGBANG’s first stadium world tour since 2017, with North American stops planned after Goyang’s rapid sellout. With filming set for July, VIPs are watching to see how the first official OT3 anthem plays on stage and on streaming.
