Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 talks begin after finale

Will Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 happen? The short answer is that discussions are now underway, but SBS has not officially renewed So Ji-sub’s action drama. A day after Season 1 ended on July 25, the production team said it was positively discussing a follow-up.

That is a meaningful shift from SBS’s July 6 response, when the network said no official talks had begun. Still, viewers looking for an Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 release date will need to wait: neither a production timetable nor a premiere plan has been announced.

Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2 Talks Are Underway

On July 26, the production team confirmed that Season 2 conversations had started after the 10-episode first season wrapped. The team said, “Thanks to your immense love and support, we are currently discussing Season 2 of ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ positively.”

That wording is encouraging, but it is not a formal greenlight. The same statement stressed that detailed scheduling has yet to be determined and promised updates once plans are confirmed.

Earlier in July, SBS described the show as a drama capable of expanding into a seasonal format, without saying a second season was in development. The new production team update is therefore the strongest indication yet that a continuation is being considered.

Why a Second Season Has Momentum

Season 1 gave the conversation real momentum. It opened with 9.5 percent nationwide viewership, passed 20 percent in its fourth episode with 21.6 percent, and closed at 23.0 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. Its reported peak reached 27.1 percent.

The drama also maintained ratings above 20 percent for seven consecutive episodes through its finale. Its run stood out because the audience grew quickly from the premiere instead of building only at the very end.

The finale also left a natural opening for more. After bringing down Joo Hak Construction, Kim takes a job at Baekho Employment Agency. The introduction of Lee Do-gyu and the new workplace setting create room for a story involving Kim and the people around him, though no Season 2 plot has been announced.

So Ji-sub had also expressed interest in a season-based drama at an SBS media event. His interest fits the format SBS had previously said could work for the series.

What Is Still Unconfirmed

For now, Agent Kim Reactivated has not been formally renewed. There are no confirmed filming dates, returning cast list, episode count, storyline details, release date, or streaming plan.

That means claims that the series is already coming back go further than the available information. The next reliable signal will be a formal announcement from SBS, Studio S, Pantagio, or the production team.

Until then, the Baekho Employment Agency ending remains a promising setup, not proof of what Agent Kim’s next mission will be.
