The 2026 MAMA Awards are no longer just two nights of television. CJ ENM and Mnet revealed on October 29 that the ceremony will run November 20 and 21 at Kyocera Dome Osaka, and the package now includes three headline collaboration stages, a brand-new award category and the first-ever MAMA Fan Festa.
The theme is “A Music Interstellar,” and organizers are betting that K-pop’s past, present and future can share one stage. For U.S. fans, the practical questions matter as much as the lineup: what can you actually watch from home, and which details still need official confirmation?
Inside the 2026 MAMA Awards Format Change
Mnet head Yoon Shin-hye said the theme is designed to connect K-pop’s past, present and future across generations, genres and art forms. The show splits into two chapters. Chapter 1 on November 20 covers artist categories, including fan-voted awards and rookie, solo and group honors. Chapter 2 on November 21 shifts to performance and works, adding genre awards and the newly introduced Best Song Top 10.
That new category selects the year’s top 10 songs based on streaming and download data, and the Song of the Year winner is chosen from that list. Consumption data now effectively builds the shortlist for MAMA’s biggest prize.
Actor Park Bo-gum, a fixture at the ceremony since 2017, returns for both nights as its first-ever ambassador, narrating the “A Music Interstellar” story and connecting the two chapters. MAMA launched in 1999, was renamed the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2009 and rebranded as MAMA AWARDS in 2022.
ENHYPEN, BIGBANG and Panic Lead the Crossover Stages
Three collaboration stages carry the cross-generational concept, and they are the most talked-about part of the announcement.
ENHYPEN performs on MAMA’s Cinematic Stage tied to Dune: Part Three, the final film in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy, ahead of its December release. The group is set to perform a new single scheduled for November, which makes the stage both a Hollywood crossover and a comeback moment in one night.
BIGBANG marks its 20th anniversary with a stage shared with Dooly the Little Dinosaur, the Korean animated character created in 1983. For U.S. readers who did not grow up on Korean TV: Dooly is a national pop-culture staple, not a random mascot.
Panic is the clearest proof of the all-generations pitch. The duo of Lee Juck and Kim Jin-pyo debuted in 1995, the same year Mnet launched, and will perform their own set plus a collaboration with CORTIS’ Martin and Seonghyeon, WOODZ, ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Tae-rae, ALLDAY PROJECT’s Woochan and Hearts2Hearts’ Yuha.
Two more layers sit outside music. Contemporary artist Lee Bae, known for his charcoal-based works, brings his art to a MAMA stage for the first time, and Google’s Gemini AI model is integrated into the production from the opening onward.
The First MAMA Fan Festa Takes Over Osaka
From November 9 through November 21, the show leaves the dome. The first MAMA Fan Festa spreads across Osaka and online through Mnet Plus, the strongest signal yet that organizers want a destination weekend rather than a broadcast.
In the city, a welcome station in the Namba area hosts events including video high-five sessions with artists. Fans can find backstage footage linked to Kyocera Dome rehearsals and a red-carpet photo zone. Music from this year’s nominees will play inside the HEP Five Ferris wheel, and restaurants around Dotonbori will offer MAMA-themed experiences. CJ ENM says it plans to continue the Fan Festa concept in future host cities.
“We focused on creating something fans can experience and feel rather than simply watch,” said Park Chan-uk, who heads CJ ENM’s live entertainment business.
For U.S. fans staying home, Mnet Plus hosts the online side, including fan voting, stamp missions, spoiler quests and livestreaming. The Fan Festa Super Pass was offered during the Visa presale window, which has now closed, and specific feature access should be confirmed on the platform.
Lineup, Tickets and How U.S. Fans Watch
Organizers are calling this the largest single-location lineup in MAMA history, and the announced acts split across the two nights. Chapter 1 on November 20 lists ENHYPEN, BABYMONSTER, CL, Hearts2Hearts, ILLIT, NCT WISH, TREASURE and INI, among others. Chapter 2 on November 21 lists BIGBANG, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NAYEON of TWICE, HWASA, WOODZ, ZEROBASEONE, CORTIS and KiiiKiii, among others. Confirm the final running order on official MAMA channels closer to the date.
Mnet Plus is the designated global streaming platform for the show. Here is one honest caveat: published U.S. start times have not been consistent. The local start time for November 21 has been reported as both 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. KST, so check the official Mnet Plus schedule for your time zone instead of trusting converted times circulating online.
Tickets went through Visa, back as title sponsor for a third consecutive year after 2024 and 2025, with its CJ ENM partnership now running through 2029. Visa presale registration ran October 13 to 18, 2026, with entry status checkable through Qoo10 from October 21. That window has closed.
Mnet Answers the Sound Quality Criticism
Mnet addressed a long-running fan complaint directly. Yoon said the team takes criticism of the show’s sound quality seriously and identified differences between audio inside the venue and what reaches broadcasts and streams. “We are currently testing how we can make the sound equally good across each environment,” she said.
The stakes are measurable. According to CJ ENM, the 2024 ceremony passed 100 million cumulative digital views within five days, and the most recent edition reached viewers in roughly 250 regions worldwide. Most of that audience hears the stream, not the dome.
What U.S. Fans Should Watch Next
Several pieces remain open before MAMA weekend. Mnet Plus has not yet published a definitive U.S. schedule, the final performance order is still to come, and it is unclear how much of the Fan Festa’s in-person programming has an online equivalent.
