South Korean group I-dle, formerly known as (G)I-DLE, open a new chapter with their 9th mini album We made and title track Gimme Dat Love. In a recent interview, the members explain how this release pushes their “We” series and their identity as a rebranded OT5 into bolder territory.
The “We” trilogy, from EP We Are I-dle to We Are and now We made, follows years of “I”-titled projects that spotlighted individual confidence. Leader Soyeon says this new arc is about “coming together as one” and focusing on “the essence of love itself,” giving fans a new way to read the group’s story.
Inside We made and Gimme Dat Love
Released July 6, 2026 at 6 p.m. KST, We made arrives mid tour as I-dle’s first EP since We Are. Title track Gimme Dat Love is described as a sensual summer song built on a whistle hook and tropical beat, tracing a rush of attraction that feels like thirst.
Alongside the single, the mini album’s tracklist looks like this:
- “Mono (feat. skaiwater)”
- “Gimme Dat Love”
- “Morning”
- “Crow”
- “Love Is Pain”
- “Mono (Mono Version)” – CD only track
Pre-release single Crow dropped with its own music video in June, while physical copies add the alternate “Mono (Mono Version)” for collectors.
In showcase comments, Soyeon said the group wanted to focus on “the essence” of their music, admitting that in their ninth year they sometimes felt tired and craved “newer, more fun” challenges. Bringing in Latin pop creatives like Daramola and Samantha Camara alongside international feature skaiwater underlines that willingness to stretch I-dle’s sound.
From I to We: a new identity for I-dle
Before the rebrand, (G)I-DLE’s core albums followed the “I” naming pattern, building a reputation for fiercely individual voices. On May 2, 2025, the group marked their seventh anniversary by officially changing their English name to I-dle and releasing the special EP We Are I-dle, followed weeks later by the eighth mini album We Are.
In the new GIDLE We made interview, Soyeon explains that the “We” series is meant to show the members “coming together as one” instead of standing apart. With We made titled in parallel to early release I made, the trilogy reads like a rebooted origin story, this time centered on what they create together as an OT5 team.
Miyeon adds that the album and its music video capture a more instinctive kind of love, less polished and more impulsive. Soyeon frames it as “expressing the essence of love itself,” shifting I-dle’s storytelling from bold declarations of self to a shared, messy emotion that every member and listener can stand inside.
How We made points to I-dle’s future
That shift is happening in real time on the 2026 WORLD TOUR [Syncopation], where Crow has been promoted as a darker pre-release track. The members talk about recording and rehearsing between flights, calling the process energizing because they leaned on each other, and they will bring this We made stage to Lollapalooza Chicago on July 31, 2026.
