Netflix has assembled a full ensemble for its live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling, and the roster says as much about the franchise as it does about the stars. Byeon Woo-seok was confirmed earlier as the lead, Sung Jin-woo. The streamer has since announced that Han So-hee, Kang You-seok, Sung Joon, Lee Sung-min, and Rain will join him, turning a single-star project into an ensemble built around the story’s Hunter ranks and guild politics.
For viewers who found the franchise through the anime, the cast list reads like a map of the world’s power structure. For everyone else, it is a clean entry point: every confirmed role connects to a rank, a guild, or an institution that shapes how the story works. Netflix has not announced a release date, which leaves the casting as the clearest window into what the adaptation will look like.
A Webtoon Giant Heads to Netflix
Solo Leveling began as a web novel before expanding into a webtoon, an animated series, and games. The setup is simple enough for newcomers: mysterious Gates connect the real world to monster-filled dungeons, and awakened humans called Hunters raid them for a living.
Byeon Woo-seok plays Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank Hunter, the lowest tier among those who fight through the Gates. After an incident that nearly kills him, he awakens with an ability no other Hunter has, one that lets him grow stronger as he levels up. That climb from weakest to strongest is the engine of the entire franchise, and it puts enormous weight on the lead performance.
Han So-hee Steps In as Cha Hae-in
Han So-hee will play Cha Hae-in, described as Korea’s ninth S-rank Hunter and its only female S-rank Hunter. She is known for wielding a longsword, a detail that gives her a distinct silhouette in a story full of magic users and brawlers.
Rank matters here. Hunters are graded from E, the weakest, up to S, the elite, and S-rank status places a character near the top of the world’s fighting order. In a society where strength is measured that way, an S-rank Hunter functions almost like a national asset, which is why Cha Hae-in moves through the same circles as the guild leaders who dominate the story’s politics.
Casting Han, whose recent credits include the Netflix series Gyeongseong Creature, gives the project a familiar face for K-drama viewers and one of the highest-profile names attached to the adaptation.
Kang You-seok and the Wider Ensemble
Kang You-seok takes the role of Yoo Jin-ho, the second son of the Yoojin Group conglomerate family. He joins Sung Jin-woo on dungeon quests and becomes a loyal ally, a relationship the source material frames in sibling terms. Kang recently appeared in When Life Gives You Tangerines and Resident Playbook.
The rest of the confirmed roster fills out the institutions that oversee Hunters in Korea:
- Byeon Woo-seok as Sung Jin-woo, the E-rank Hunter at the center of the story
- Han So-hee as Cha Hae-in, an S-rank Hunter and longsword specialist
- Kang You-seok as Yoo Jin-ho, a younger ally from a powerful business family
- Sung Joon as Woo Jin-chul, an A-rank Hunter and Surveillance Division chief who is the first to suspect Jin-woo has reawakened
- Rain, also known as Jung Ji-hoon, as Baek Yoon-ho, an S-rank Hunter who leads the White Tiger Guild and can transform into a magical beast
- Lee Sung-min as Go Gun-hee, a retired top-level Hunter who chairs the Korean Hunters Association
Two of those names come with a billing detail worth remembering. Rain and Lee Sung-min are listed as special appearances rather than main cast, so they are not being presented as series regulars.
From Web Novel to Anime to Live Action
The scale of the source material explains the attention. The original web novel and webtoon have drawn a combined 14.3 billion views worldwide, and the animated adaptation has built its own momentum with seasons released in 2024 and 2025. The games extended the franchise further, which means the live-action series arrives in front of an audience that already knows these characters from at least one medium.
The anime also set a difficult bar. It won nine awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, Best New Series, and Best Action, according to the Korea Herald. Live-action adaptations rarely inherit that kind of built-in fandom and that level of visual expectation at the same time.
Behind the camera, director Han Dong-wook, whose credits include The Worst of Evil, is set to co-direct. Production is handled by Sanae Pictures together with Kakao Entertainment.
What Netflix Has Not Confirmed
Several pieces remain open, and they are the ones fans keep asking about. There is no release date, no episode count, and no trailer or first-look stills. It is also unclear how closely the series will follow the webtoon’s version of events versus the anime’s, or whether the Netflix take will chart its own path through the same world.
The most common questions have simple answers for now. Is it a Netflix series? Yes. Who plays Cha Hae-in? Han So-hee. When does it arrive? Not announced.
What is settled is the shape of the main cast. Byeon Woo-seok carries the story as Sung Jin-woo, Han So-hee steps into one of the franchise’s most anticipated roles, and Kang You-seok anchors the partnership that defines the early chapters.
Any future update, whether a teaser, a release window, or more names, will slot into a picture that is already mostly assembled. Until then, the cast list stands as the best available preview of how Solo Leveling will translate a webtoon built on ranks, guilds, and impossible scale into live action.
