BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary Goyang concert was not a simple victory lap. On August 23, the trio of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung turned the final night of their three-show Goyang Stadium run into a stadium-scale reminder that their catalog, chemistry, and command of a crowd still land with force in 2026.
Nearly nine years after their last Korean concert, the second-generation icons returned with more than 30 songs, a new anniversary single, and roughly 40,000 V.I.P.s ready to sing back every era. The homecoming also opened the larger question for global fans: what does BIGBANG’s next chapter look like as a three-member act heading into a new world tour?
BIGBANG’s Goyang Return Opened a New Era
The August 21 to 23 Goyang Stadium dates launched XX: COSMOS, BIGBANG’s 2026-2027 world tour and their first Korean concert run since LAST DANCE at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome in December 2017. It was a major homecoming for a group that debuted in 2006, now returning in its current configuration of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung.
On the August 23 finale, the members entered after a cosmic-themed intro video as a red screen split apart to reveal them in glistening white suits. They opened with their 2012 staple Fantastic Baby, immediately putting a familiar, high-impact BIGBANG signature at the center of the anniversary show.
G-Dragon paused after the opening stretch to absorb the room. “I stopped because I wanted to soak in our last day here,” he told the audience. “This is our 20th anniversary world tour. We started in 2006 and we’ve made it to 2026. I sincerely welcome all of you who came.”
The group had been away from a Korean concert stage for eight years and eight months. But the Goyang finale did not play like a cautious reintroduction. Across roughly two and a half hours, the trio moved through hits, solo material, the new song BiiiG, and the kind of collective singalongs that made the long wait feel less like a gap and more like the setup for a return.
40,000 V.I.P.s Made the Hits Feel Current
Roughly 40,000 fans filled Goyang Stadium for the final night, with attendees of different ages arriving from around the world. Before the 7 p.m. start, the area around Daehwa Station, the closest stop to the venue, was already packed as fans made their way toward the stadium.
Inside, tens of thousands of BIGBANG lightsticks moved together beneath banners reading, “We are still BIGBANG’s V.I.P.” The message was simple, but it carried the weight of the occasion: a fandom that has followed the group across two decades was seeing its Korean stadium return in real time.
The setlist leaned into the breadth of BIGBANG’s legacy without treating it like a museum piece. Hands Up, Tonight, LOSER, Blue, and Bae Bae formed the early rush, while Lies, BANG BANG BANG, We Like 2 Party, Sunset Glow, and Last Farewell kept the audience moving late into the night.
That range matters for a 20th-anniversary show. BIGBANG’s history is not represented by one sound or one generation of fans. At Goyang, songs from across their career were greeted as communal events, with the crowd standing and singing through the later stages of the concert. The result was a clear live proof point for why their songs remain instantly recognizable within K-pop.
“BiiiG” Brought the Anniversary Into the Present
The most important performance was also the newest one. BIGBANG released digital single BiiiG on August 19 to mark the group’s 20th anniversary, then performed it during the Goyang shows just days later. It was their first group release in four years and four months, following Still Life in April 2022.
YG Entertainment described BiiiG as a song that most clearly shows BIGBANG’s present. Onstage, that present was built around the members’ distinct roles: G-Dragon’s rap, Taeyang’s groove-forward vocals, and Daesung’s powerhouse delivery. Rather than interrupting the nostalgia of the set, the new single gave the night a current-tense center.
Daesung addressed the release during the concert, telling fans that the group’s short but intense promotional period for the song had ended. Taeyang reflected on the energy in the room, saying, “It was truly, truly fun. I thought, ‘If we’re having this much fun, how much fun must the fans watching be having?’”
The performance also made clear why one new release can still carry significance at this stage of BIGBANG’s career. BiiiG did not arrive as a confirmed preview of a full album, and no such project has been officially announced. Still, G-Dragon later suggested that more music was on his mind, giving fans a reason to watch the tour closely for any formal next-step announcement.
The Trio Chemistry Held Up on a Stadium Stage
BIGBANG’s Goyang concert was their first full tour launch as a trio, and the staging placed that reality in full view. The members covered the broad protruding stage without leaning on tightly synchronized choreography, instead using their individual performance styles and long-established timing to keep the space alive.
Daesung brought a playful, high-volume solo section with Look at Me, Gwisun, while Taeyang performed Live Fast Die Slow, his recent release under The Black Label, alongside songs including BAD and Ringa Linga. G-Dragon’s solo run included Crayon and Crooked, while another report also described him opening his segment with POWER.
The three repeatedly caught each other’s eyes and shared smiles on camera, a small but meaningful visual detail in a show centered on their renewed group identity. Taeyang, sporting spiky pink hair, told the audience, “It’s so good to meet you with a new look and a new stage for our 20th anniversary.”
The production matched the scale of the moment. A five-piece live band led by music director Wow Jones supported the full setlist, adding weight to everything from the massive choruses to the individual solo stages. Video and lighting elements were developed with Mike Carson, credited as creative director on last year’s Super Bowl halftime show, and stage designer Es Devlin.
What’s Next for BIGBANG’s XX: COSMOS World Tour
Goyang was only the opening chapter. YG Entertainment says XX: COSMOS is planned to include 33 shows in 19 cities across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, with stadium-scale venues on the itinerary through next year. Additional cities are still expected to be announced.
For U.S. fans, the key detail is that North American dates are part of the announced touring plan, but specific cities, venues, ticket timing, and presale information should be treated as pending until BIGBANG, YG Entertainment, or official ticketing partners release them.
The Goyang run set a demanding standard for whatever comes next: a set built for longtime V.I.P.s, a live premiere for BiiiG, and a trio that looked comfortable carrying a stadium on its own terms. As the tour moves beyond Korea, fans will be watching for official North American announcements and whether the anniversary era expands from one new single into more confirmed music.
